Meet your Art Therapist: Gemma

With over 17 years of teaching experience mostly in the Art Room, Gemma has always been passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard and connected. Her work has grown beyond the classroom through her own interest in healing, wellbeing and open minded spirituality. Gemma brings these learnings and experiences into the spaces she creates such as journalling, meditation, sound healing and circle facilitation practises.

After many years of supporting children and young people, Gemma felt a strong desire to do more — to create a deeper impact and make a meaningful difference to people’s wellbeing and sense of self. This is when Gemma studied to become an Art Therapist, blending her love of Art and wellbeing for people. She believes that connection, belonging and having a safe space to simply be are things we are all craving more of in today’s world. Gemma is a qualified Art Therapist Counsellor registered with the Australian Community Counselling Association (ACCA). Combining her teaching experience and counselling skills this is when Exhalia Therapy, Art Therapy circles for kids was born.

Through her wellbeing spaces, Gemma brings together her experience as an educator, her creative background and her passion for healing to create opportunities for people to slow down, connect with themselves and others, and feel a little more supported and less alone.

Gemma is currently offering Art Therapy Circles for children to assist them with their mental health needs and help nurture and grow helpful wellbeing strategies to apply to themselves and their world. If you believe this is something you think your child could benefit from please explore the circles on offer or email Gemma on the Contact Page.
